Birthday party planning HELL!!!

I actually enjoy planning parties for the most part. But WHY do I wait until the last minute to remember things or think of things, etc? This is the 'HELL' part of planning. Now I have to worry if things will get done, if they will ship in time, etc.

So here's what we have so far. The invitations are out and the theme is Elmo and it's going to be July 11th. We've rented a bouncy house. This one to be exact. So the location and major entertainment is covered. So I am going to order the cake on Friday. It's just the big azzz Elmo head that you've seen everywhere. Nothing fancy there. As for the menu...I am scaling back from last year. You may thing WHA?? when you see the list...but yes, friends....this is scaling back to me! LOL Last year I served a full meal. This year I am giving them a 'sandwich' type option and then just appetizer/finger food stuff.

Here is the menu so far - pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, BLT pasta salad, asian slaw, spinach & artichoke dip, mexican dip, fruit tray, veggie tray, couple kinds of chips, and drinks!! Hopefully this will be MUCH less trouble and expense than last year. Course, the guest list was cut in half this year too! So that's that!

I ordered the CUTEST little dress and hairbow you have ever seen!! Here is the dress and bow.

Here is a link to the ebay listing of the favors that I ordered. That was one of the things I was a little slow on. These are super cute and I hope people like them. I will probably print out some type of label or something that says 'Thanks for coming to my party! Love, Callie' Hopefully I can get it all worked out!!

Weekend Wrap-up!

This past weekend was one of those weekends where you are so busy doing things that you literally have to go back to work on Monday to get some rest! I guess it can go either way - that can be a good thing or a bad thing. I think it was a good thing in this instance!

We started the weekend off early by having the yard sale super early Friday morning. My mom and my aunt were at my house at like 6am and 'customers' started showing up shortly thereafter. It is just amazing to me what people will buy and pay good money for. I am convinced that they would buy the garbage straight out of the can if they thought it was a good deal! They were asking to go in the house and look in the basement for stuff and everything. Umm...HELLO! We live in the house now and NO (!!!) you can't go in and 'shop' in there! LOL I think they made around $1300 so not too bad for a couple long days. It was SOOO HOT though!! OMG!

On Father's Day we went to the lake. We had a BLAST but we all got scorched. Even Callie! UGH! I poured sunscreen on her but I guess it just wasn't enough. Thankfully she hasn't complained too much about it hurting. I've been rubbing aloe on it and giving her tylenol to take the 'fever' out of it. Hopefully in a couple more days she will be good as new!

All in all it was a wonderful weekend but totally exhausting and the heat just zapped us. We got to see lots of family and friends that is just exactly how summer weekends should be!

Here are a couple pictures from the weekend!

One funny before the pictures....So I have all of these remaining pregnancy things. Some will think this is disgusting but it's just one of those things...I have a lot of skin tags as it is...but during pregnancy I got a few more and one was like below my eye. Not very big at all but annoying nonetheless. So I decided last night I was going to perform surgery on this and give myself a skin tagectomy. So I get the nail clippers out and start looking for the alcohol. Any smart person would have just bought a new pair to use but I like to live on the wild side. Couldn't find the alcohol to sanitize them with so I decide mouthwash would have to do! LOL It is antiseptic, FWIW! LOL So I pour the mint mouthwash over the nail clippers and find my place in the mirror and start to clip. OUCH! This was not going to be painless. So I finally got the nerve to just endure the pain and make it quick. So I quickly pushed them together in hopes it would be a clean cut. LOL Ummm...didn't happen! Those feckers were totally dull. So I had to practically whittle that freakin' skin tag off my face!!! *shudder* Finally I get it off and there's not too much blood. I go in to show Michael and he never skips a beat. He starts pointing out something that he thinks might be a skin tag in the exact same spot on his face. Just like it was normal to stand around in the bathroom and operate on yourself with nail clippers and mouthwash. Ok...well...maybe it's normal for me! I looked back at him and thought WTH....I pointed at Winston and said 'Get with my secretary and we'll set up an appointment for next week' He just chuckled and started watching tv again! LOL Today I am no worse for the wear!! But I am less one annoying skin tag and probably saved $100 by not going to the doctor!!

Ok...here are the pictures....You like the way Callie paints??? LOL

Back in the saddle again....

Well...the blogging saddle, that is! I have been away far too long! Not that anyone probably noticed I was gone. HA!

Not a whole lot going on here! Callie is a lot bigger and she is so smart and says so many things now! I don't even know where to start. She will be 2 next month. That is just crazy to me. She is starting to say sentences and that just blows my mind. Where did my baby go? And who is this crazy toddler that is wrecking my house and stealing my heart? :-)

Anyway...first things first...We haven't been on vacation (a real vacation- like a weeklong deal) in what seems like years. It's probably only been a couple years but THIS IS THE YEAR! I booked it yesterday. We are going to Dauphin Island, AL. It's nothing too extravagant and it's not but a ferry ride and a few miles from Gulf Shores. I wanted more low key so hopefully we'll get that if we stay on Dauphin Island. Of course we'll probably venture over to Gulf Shores for more touristy type stuff for a couple day trips. I'm mostly excited to be back at the beach and to see Callie's reaction to the ocean/sand/water/waves.

Here is the house we are going to be staying in. You can see more pictures at the following link. It looks really nice and we are really excited. Now to start planning all of the details...cause that is the type of traveler that I am. I must plan a schedule for each day!

So most of you know that we are living in my great aunt's house. Well, tomorrow starts the big yard sale to sale most of her things (she passed away in February). I so hate that I will be at work (note the sarcasm) for the first day. It is supposed to be mid to high 90's by Saturday. Hold me Jesus!! So one day of yard sale'ing will be plenty for me! My aunt and my mom are in charge of it so hopefully they are successful. No use in keeping the stuff in storage and paying for that when no one is going to use the stuff.

Also, we have a garden this summer. I will try to take pics of that this weekend and post them. We are having so much fun with it. Well, we are if the weather would cooperate!!! We have stuck the beans 2 or 3 times and the storms and high winds just keep taking them down! Callie has certainly ate her fair share of dirt and ruined a couple pairs of shoes but she's no worse for the wear!
